JF&CS Volunteer News Spring 2011

April is National Volunteer Month! Thank you to all our volunteers for generously sharing your energy, expertise, and compassion with those in need. JF&CS would not be able to do our work without you.

We're all familiar with Ben Franklin's famous words, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." It means that a small effort now can help avoid a larger problem later.

At JF&CS we take the idea of prevention very seriously and have begun a strategic effort to create services to help those in need avoid more serious consequences later.

Volunteers like you are contributing to this mission. Recent blog posts featured folks who are reaching out to people now to prevent problems later. Orthodontist Dr. Murray Miller and Visiting Mom Daphne Petri are just two of the many caring volunteers giving their time to others in this way.

Thanks to our 1,600 volunteers, we are able to offer personalized and innovative support to those in need, from new moms and new Americans to fragile seniors and people with disabilities. I'm grateful for all you do!
