Our tradition calls on us to care for one another in times of need—and these are extraordinary times.

Today, our government is on the brink of an unprecedented situation: pausing benefits for more than 42 million people who rely on SNAP. Among them are more than 3,000 JF&CS clients and more than 8,000 members of our local Jewish community. At this point, they don’t know how they will feed their families next month. And they are frightened of the impossible trade-offs between paying for food, medicine, and rent.

JF&CS is already answering scores of calls as we support the community through a time of both fear and need. The stories are heartbreaking: parents worried about feeding their young children and people in their 80s and 90s who will go without food if their benefits are delayed.

We have mobilized to provide healthy nutritious food to those in need, plus access to information and resources. We are already acquiring food to address unprecedented demand. We will be here for the community, as we have been here in emergencies past.

If you or someone you know is in need, please reach out to the JF&CS SNAP Response Team. And if you are in a position to help us respond, we are grateful for folks who can step up—with donations of time, food, and dollars.

Thank you for supporting us in this urgent mission.
