Finding her way back to stability
Paula,* a woman in her late 70s, called JF&CS’s Mental Health Connect helpline after losing her longtime therapist. She was coping with multiple stressors at once: her son’s cancer diagnosis, unpaid utility bills, and past trauma that was triggering depression and anxiety.
Our social workers looked at Paula’s entire situation and helped her find a new therapist, while also assisting in stabilizing her finances. When Paula was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease shortly thereafter, our team continued to coordinate her care, supporting Paula as she processed this news and adjusted to what it meant for her future.
Today, Paula is receiving mental health treatment and engaging more regularly with others. With coordinated support addressing both emotional and practical needs, she feels reassured and better equipped to navigate what lies ahead.
