Through his work with JF&CS Journey to Safety, Zachary Albert has helped survivors of domestic abuse regain financial stability, confidence, and a path forward.

Zachary Albert has been named the 2026 recipient of the Simone Lottor Exceptional Service Award at JF&CS, recognizing his extraordinary volunteer contributions to the organization’s Journey to Safety program. The award honors volunteers who embody Jewish values of chessed—lovingkindness—and a commitment to tikkun olam, repairing the world.

Zach, a financial advisor, has spent nearly a decade volunteering his expertise to support survivors of domestic abuse. He first connected with Journey to Safety early in his career, proactively offering pro bono financial guidance at a pivotal moment when the program was expanding its services to include economic empowerment.

Journey to Safety provides comprehensive, culturally responsive support to survivors, including assistance with legal, emotional, and financial challenges. Financial abuse—often invisible but deeply damaging—can leave survivors without access to money, burdened by debt, or unable to rebuild stability. Zach’s work addresses this critical need, helping clients regain control of their financial lives and move toward long-term security.

“Sometimes the most powerful thing I can offer isn’t a financial strategy—it’s making sure people know they have someone in their corner.”

Through one-on-one guidance, Zach has assisted dozens of survivors in navigating complex financial challenges. His approach combines technical expertise with empathy and creativity, equipping clients with practical strategies while restoring their confidence.

In accepting the award, Zach emphasized that financial recovery is a key part of healing from abuse. He described his work with a client whose finances had been devastated by years of deception and exploitation, including drained savings, mounting debt, and impending foreclosure. With Zach’s support, she was able to halt foreclosure proceedings, restructure her debts, and begin rebuilding her financial future.

For Zach, the impact of his work goes beyond numbers. “Sometimes the most powerful thing I can offer isn’t a financial strategy,” he said. “It’s making sure people know they have someone in their corner.”

By pairing professional expertise with deep compassion, Zach has helped survivors not only stabilize their finances but also regain a sense of control and possibility. His dedication exemplifies the spirit of the Simone Lottor Award and the mission of JF&CS to improve people’s lives.
