On Holocaust Survivor Day, we honor survivors, including the individuals we are privileged to support.
As the only program in Greater Boston dedicated to caring for Holocaust survivors, JF&CS Schechter Holocaust Services serves nearly 450 clients. Both the number of people we support and the intensity of need are growing. Over the past year, JF&CS cared for 527 survivors, including 78 new clients, providing home visits, economic assistance, and meaningful opportunities for connection.
This spring, nearly 40 survivors in their 80s, 90s, and even their 100s came together for an afternoon of music, dancing, and community. They sang in Russian and Yiddish, reconnected with one another, and filled the room with joy.
We are honored to walk alongside survivors in their later years—helping ensure they can age with dignity, receive the care they deserve, and remain part of a caring Jewish community.
