It's Direct Support Professional (DSP) Recognition Week and we’re thrilled to celebrate our staff who devote their work to supporting people with disabilities!
Sheila Paul is now in her seventh year as direct care staff at our CHAI Works day program in Waltham. She’s known for her creativity, leading activities like the fashion and drawing groups, helping with gardening, and teaching Haitian Creole. “I bring a lot of my own personal culture to the table,” says Sheila. She also accompanies people with disabilities on their volunteering opportunities in the community, helping them build skills and develop their interests.
Motivated by a desire to give back, Sheila enjoys being part of the day-to-day variety at CHAI Works and seeing the progress participants make over the long term. She also values the culture of professional learning and work-life balance on the team. “I genuinely love working with this group of staff,” she says. “You can always grow.”
