In honor of Parkinson’s Awareness Month, join us for a gentle, full-body pole walking class designed for people with Parkinson’s and their care partners.

Led by a certified Urban Poling instructor, this beginner-friendly workshop focuses on safe, supported movement to help improve posture, balance, coordination, and walking confidence.
Using Activator® Poles, participants will learn easy-to-follow techniques that encourage longer, more rhythmic steps, active arm engagement, and greater stability for safer, more confident walking.
This event is hosted by JCC Greater Boston in collaboration with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Jewish Family & Children's Service.
How Pole Walking Can Help
Pole walking supports upright posture, natural arm swing, and rhythmic movement. The poles add stability and balance support, which may reduce fear of falling while improving gait, coordination, and overall walking confidence.
What to Expect
- Gentle, supportive introduction to pole walking fundamentals
- Instruction in proper posture, arm swing, and stride technique
- Simple strength and balance exercises to improve stability and coordination
- A welcoming, supportive community environment
Participants should be able to walk independently or with a cane and stand for at least 10 minutes. Activator Poles will be provided for use during class; participants are welcome to bring their own poles if they have them.
