Chaverim Shel Shalom (Friends of Peace) and Music and Moods foster social connection and community engagement for Jewish adults living with chronic mental health challenges.

Chaverim Shel Shalom – Friends of Peace

Chaverim Shel Shalom (Friends of Peace) is a program for Jewish adults living with chronic mental health challenges. In addition to cultural, educational, and social programs, Chaverim Shel Shalom offers ongoing support and connection to Jewish tradition and the Jewish community. Members meet two to four times a month for social activities and “dinner & learn” programs with a Jewish theme. Members also participate in community activities including the Boston Jewish Film Festival and day trips in Greater Boston and Southern New England. There is no cost to be a member of this group. Music and Moods

We invite adults with mental health diagnoses to come together in music to find common ground, achieve shared goals and discover new strengths. This group is led by Board-Certified Music Therapist, singer/songwriter Sarah Blacker, MT-BC. Learn more here.

Join us to discuss song lyrics and themes, and engage in mindfulness activities. We will listen to, sing, and write live music, that represents our moods and feelings,

Sarah Blacker, MT-BC has been running groups and individual Music Therapy sessions for individuals diagnosed with mental health illnesses for over 15 years. She graduated from the Berklee College of Music and is currently on her way to becoming certified as an LMHC. Her process-oriented, person-centered philosophy draws from many different theories and techniques in counseling and music therapy, but she believes that music offers a space to be heard, be supported, be validated and find common ground as your whole self.
