A Practical Guide for Staff in Massachusetts Independent Senior Housing
This free guide provides important information to help understand the problem of suicide among older adults, learn the risk factors and warning signs, and how to intervene.
Suicide is more prevalent in older adult housing communities than many people realize. As the baby boomer population ages and our population of older adults rapidly expands, this public health problem will continue to increase in magnitude. For these reasons, it is critical for housing staff to understand suicide prevention as they interact every day with older adults in the community.
The guide was developed as a public service by JF&CS Suicide Prevention with generous support from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
