Yesodot
The mission of Yesodot (Hebrew for foundations) is to maximize the potential and build community foundations for children and young adults with disabilities in Greater Boston. Yesodot welcomes Jewish and interfaith families and is a family-centered and family-directed support program that provides a varied menu of services and programs to families whose loved ones have developmental, physical, learning, or other disabilities. In 2001, Yesodot began running programs through JVS (Jewish Vocational Service). In 2010, Yesodot became a part of JF&CS in Waltham.
Yesodot Families
Yesodot families come from more than 62 cities and towns throughout Greater Boston. The individuals we serve range from young children to adults. These individuals have a variety of disabilities including developmental, psychiatric, and physical disabilities.
The goal of Yesodot is to serve not just the child/teen/young adult with a disability, but all members of the family including parents, siblings, and grandparents.
Yesodot Programs
Yesodot provides parent and sibling support, family recreational outings, and offers programs for young people transitioning from high school. In addition, Yesodot presents educational workshops, disseminates information, develops resources, and runs an assistive technology project. Yesodot participates in public awareness activities and collaborates to foster community inclusion.
