Schechter Holocaust Services
|
Schechter Holocaust Services continues to honor the agency's longstanding commitment to address the needs and concerns of Holocaust survivors and their families as they change over time.
Hakalah (Support services for survivors)
In an effort to promote and enhance the capacity of Holocaust survivors to age with dignity, Hakalah provides confidential, comprehensive assistance to survivors and their families at no cost. This includes emergency financial assistance, homecare subsidies, and reparations and restitution assistance.

Legacies (Programs for children and grandchildren of survivors)
Legacies, in partnership with Generations After, a group comprised of children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors and friends, recruits volunteers to make holiday visits to Holocaust survivors in need of companionship. Other volunteer services can also be provided. Staff offer consultation and professional staff training for caregivers of aging survivors and collaborates with community organizations on educational programs and special events. We also plan social gatherings for survivors.
Thanks to a very generous gift from Gail and David Schechter, Holocaust Services is named for the Schechter Family.
Hakalah is funded by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
Legacies is funded by the Dorot Foundation and private support.
