familyManaged by Jewish Family & Children’s Service and Combined Jewish Philanthropies, the CJP Disabilities Trust and CJP Disabilities Trust II offer ways to set aside funds for a person with disabilities while preserving his or her eligibility for essential government benefits including Social Security and MassHealth.

Trust I and Trust II at a glance – what’s the difference?

What is the difference?  This is a third-party trust set up to serve adults with disabilities. This Trust provides an advocate for the beneficiary with at least four (4) occupancy visits per year.  This is a self-settled trust designed to preserve eligibility for state benefits like SSI and MassHealth. 
Who is eligible?  Persons of any age with a disability and who are eligible for SSI or SSDI benefits.  Persons of any age with a disability who own assets they would like to preserve. 
Revocable or Irrevocable?  Irrevocable  Irrevocable 
Created by?  CJP  CJP 
Funded by?  Family, guardian, or court  Self 
Effect on entitlements?  None  None 
What can it be used for?  CJP maintains an account for the sole benefit of the beneficiary to provide lifelong advocacy and other specified services not covered by government entitlements. What is the minimum funding level?  $25,000  $12,000
