Social Connections

woman wearing tallisChaverim Shel Shalom and Chaverim Chaim offer opportunities to learn, have fun, and spend time with friends. Participants enjoy the ongoing support of their peers and a meaningful connection to Jewish tradition and the Jewish community.

Chaverim Shel Shalom – Friends of Peace

Chaverim Shel Shalom is a program for Jewish adults living with chronic psychiatric illness. Members meet two to three times a month for social activities and “dinner & learn” programs with a Jewish theme. In addition to these ongoing events, Chaverim Shel Shalom also sponsors a community Passover seder, and members keep in touch with one another through a monthly newsletter that chronicles group activities.

Chaverim Chaim – Friends for Life

Chaverim Chaim is a social group for Jewish adults with developmental disabilities. The group meets monthly for programs and events that often have a Jewish focus, but may be just for fun. Programs include Shabbat dinners (often with a song leader or story teller), movie nights, game nights, dances, and Jewish holiday celebrations.

Chaverim Chaim Young Adults is a subgroup for members between the ages of 17 and 30, recognizing that young adults often want to spend time with people near their age who share their interests. This group meets four times a year.
