Center for Early Relationship Support®
Early Connections®
Early Connections is a therapeutic service for new families experiencing emotional difficulties in the transition to parenthood. The period of early parenting is a time of tremendous change and adjustment for both parents and babies. For mothers struggling with postpartum depression or anxiety or who have faced overwhelming stress or loss, this time can be exceptionally challenging. Some babies have special early vulnerabilities and are unusually fussy or difficult to soothe. Parents trying to cope with these stresses can feel disconnected, tense, or confused. Early Connections is an intervention to respond to these relationships in distress. |
Clinicians trained in perinatal and infant mental health offer this unique service in the home or office, bringing clinical skills in observing and intervening with early relationship problems. The focus on the developing relationship is key as research shows that babies need secure relationships to build capacities for coping and learning. Early Connections clinicians help parents and babies find their way to stronger, healthier relationships.
