Help for Anxiety
Katie is a 28-year-old single woman who heard about the JF&CS mental health clinic from her aunt. She wanted to see a therapist because she was having panic attacks. The therapist learned that Katie had struggled with anxiety since childhood, but it had never been this bad. Katie and the therapist worked together to identify triggers to Katie’s anxiety and realized that some of it involved a relationship she had recently entered. They developed some relaxation techniques to manage the immediate symptoms, and Katie was encouraged to use “journaling” to help her look deeper into her anxiety and the triggers. With the non-judgmental support of her therapist, Katie explored these issues and began to understand why she was anxious. Using her techniques for relaxation and her new insights, she was able to handle herself differently in the relationship and the panic attacks subsided.
