Volunteer WeekAs part of our ongoing 150th anniversary celebration, we hosted a week of group volunteer events. The week was a big success, with more than 200 volunteers taking part. Sunday, September 7
Family Table High Holiday Distribution
Volunteers packed food and holiday specific items and delivered the groceries to local families who might otherwise go hungry.

Monday, September 8
Parkinson's Family Support Banner Painting
Volunteers painted a banner for Parkinson's Family Support to use at a Walk for Parkinson's being held in Boston this fall.

Tuesday, September 9
Welcome Baby! 'Kit' Assembly
Supplies and resources for Welcome Baby! kits were collected at JF&CS Headquarters. In the upcoming weeks, volunteers will assemble these items into Welcome Baby! kits, which are delivered throughout the year to new parents, welcoming them to the Jewish community.

Wednesday, September 10
Assemble Gift Bags for Holocaust Survivors
Volunteers decorated tea cups and saucers and assembled gift bags for Holocaust survivors, providing non-perishable kosher food and demonstrating that the community continues to care for and remember survivors.

Thursday, September 11
Thank and Support Military Families
Staff and volunteers were invited to send a message of thanks to a military family via the White House website and/or raise awareness about Shoulder to Shoulder by posting flyers.

Friday, September 12
Support a Family Table Partner by Gleaning
JF&CS staff joined Boston Area Gleaners, an organization that donates food to local pantries, including JF&CS Family Table, on a gleaning trip.

Saturday, September 13
CHAI Shabbaton
Volunteers helped with a Shabbaton for CHAI residents by setting up, serving food, and socializing with CHAI guests.

Hannah NersasianHannah Nersasian is the JF&CS Manager of Volunteer Services. She joined JF&CS in February 2014. Prior to that, Hannah worked at Horizons for Homeless Children as the Director of the Greater Boston Playspace Program, a volunteer based program. Hannah is originally from Somerset, England and moved to Boston in 2010. In England, Hannah worked for a national volunteering organization called TimeBank, where she coordinated employee volunteering programs for Sony UK and T-Mobile.
